For 2027, Chevrolet has redesigned the Silverado 1500 inside and out. It gets two new V8 engines, a 16.3-inch center screen in every trim, new standard safety technology and a reworked seven-trim lineup. Here's what changed, what it means for truck owners in Williamsville and across Western New York, and how to reserve yours at our Transit Road store.

Chevrolet calls the 2027 model the most powerful Silverado 1500 it has built, and nearly every part of the truck a driver touches is new. That includes the engines, the cabin, the screens, the safety systems and the trim names.
The headline change is under the hood. A new 5.7L V8 makes 402 horsepower and 428 lb.-ft. of torque, and it carries the Silverado's best-in-class maximum trailering rating of 13,700 lbs. when properly equipped. A new 6.6L V8 makes 481 horsepower and 501 lb.-ft., which GM says makes it the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in the half-ton class. Both are sixth-generation Small Block engines with direct and port fuel injection.
The 2.7L TurboMax gets a new turbocharger, upgraded fuel injection and redesigned pistons. It makes 350 horsepower and 455 lb.-ft., which Chevrolet rates as best-in-class standard torque, and it's now paired with a 10-speed automatic. The Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel returns with 305 horsepower and 495 lb.-ft. With the available 34-gallon tank, GM estimates more than 900 miles of highway range. All four engines use a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Every 2027 Silverado 1500, including the Work Truck, gets a 16.3-inch center touchscreen and a 12.2-inch digital driver information center. The system runs Google built-in with the Gemini assistant, which handles navigation, climate and vehicle questions by voice, and it integrates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. High Country and ZR2 add an 11.5-inch front passenger screen, a head-up display and a rear camera mirror, for more than 60 inches of combined displays. The passenger screen isn't visible to the driver.
Other cabin additions include a new available Multi-Flex center console that folds flat into a work surface, available dual wireless charging, and the first panoramic sunroof ever offered on a Silverado. The sunroof is standard on High Country and available on ZR2, Trail Boss and Silverado.
The 2027 Silverado 1500 comes with more than 15 standard safety and driver assistance features. Four are new: Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking, Side Bicyclist Alert and Reverse Automatic Braking. The truck offers up to 11 cameras and 19 camera views, including front and rear underbody cameras that Chevrolet says are a first in the class.
Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance now works while towing. It's standard on High Country and ZR2 and available on Silverado and Trail Boss. It covers more than 600,000 miles of compatible roads in North America, and when it detects a trailer, it automatically lengthens the following gap. Chevrolet says no other half-ton competitor offers hands-free driving with trailering.
The Durabed offers 89.2 cubic feet of standard cargo volume, which Chevrolet rates as best in class, along with 16 standard tie-downs and an available 120-volt bed outlet. The available Multi-Flex Tailgate has six functions, including a full-width step rated to 375 lbs. For towing, Chevrolet added an industry-first Trailer Brake Gain Assistant that helps set the right trailer brake gain. The available in-vehicle Trailering App adds trailer-friendly navigation, trailer tire tracking and step-by-step Boat Ramp Assist.
The lineup is now Work Truck, Custom, Silverado, Custom Trail Boss, Trail Boss, High Country and ZR2. The former LT is now simply called Silverado. Three trims come with a 2-inch factory lift: Custom Trail Boss, Trail Boss and ZR2. Three new exterior colors join the palette: Apex Red, Pacific Blue Metallic and Trillium Green Metallic.

Snow Mode is one of seven available drive modes. It adjusts the pedal map to slow acceleration and torque response, which helps limit wheel slip on slick pavement. The mid-range Silverado model, which replaces the LT for 2027, now comes standard with the Z71 Off-Road package on every 4WD truck, adding skid plates, hill descent control and off-road suspension. It also includes heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.
The available underbody cameras have a new camera wash system to help keep them clean, which is useful when road spray and slush coat the underside of the truck. OnStar Basics is standard for eight years and includes remote commands, Automatic Crash Response and real-time navigation.
If you tow a boat to Lake Erie, the Niagara River or the Finger Lakes, Boat Ramp Assist gives step-by-step guidance at the launch, and trailer navigation plans routes around your trailer's dimensions. The Trailer Brake Gain Assistant and standard Trailer Sway Control add confidence with heavier loads.
On long highway trips, Super Cruise with Trailering can take over steering, acceleration and braking on compatible roads. The Duramax 3.0L with the 34-gallon tank means fewer fuel stops, with more than 900 miles of GM-estimated highway range.
GM is investing $888 million in its Tonawanda Propulsion plant, a short drive from our Transit Road showroom, to build its sixth-generation V8 engines for full-size trucks and SUVs. That's the engine family behind the 2027 Silverado 1500's new 5.7L and 6.6L V8s.
To be precise about where your engine comes from: GM says initial production of the new 5.7L and 6.6L V8s is at Flint Engine Operations in Michigan, with additional capacity planned at Tonawanda and at St. Catharines, Ontario.
The 2.7L TurboMax handles most daily driving and light towing, and it has the highest payload rating in the lineup. The 5.7L V8 is the pick for the heaviest trailers. The Duramax diesel suits high-mileage drivers who tow, and the 6.6L V8 is for drivers who want the most power. Chevrolet's published maximums are below.
